You have surely seen lists of suggested users to follow when scrolling your Instagram feed or watching stories. If you're not interested in following these users, you can easily get rid of the suggested followers so they stop popping up.

In this article, we will explain how to remove suggested accounts and stop appearing in other Instagrammers’ suggestions.

How to Remove Suggested Users from Instagram

Follow these simple steps to get rid of Instagram follow suggestions both on the Instagram app and web version.

1. Open the Instagram app or head over to Instagram website and sign in to your account if not yet.

2. Scroll through your home feed until you see a list of suggested users called ‘Suggested for You.’

3. Select the X icon in the top right corner of any suggested userbox. It will disappear immediately.

Instagram will not ask you to confirm that you want to delete the suggested user after you select the X. There's no way to undo it once you press the X button.

4. To delete multiple suggested users, select See All. This will take you to a new page with a list with All Suggestions.

5. If you're viewing All Suggestions from the app, select the X to the right of any suggested user to delete them.

Again, Instagram will not ask you to confirm that you want to delete the suggested user after you select the X from the All Suggestions tab.

Unfortunately, there's no X button next to each suggested user on the All Suggestions list if you view it on the Instagram web, so you will have to open it in the app and delete them from there.

If you delete all of the suggested users on your All Suggestions list from within the app, refresh the page to see a list of new suggestions. Instagram will keep suggesting new users for you to follow.

6. Opt out of Showing up in Other Users' Suggestions

If you don't want to be discovered by other people on Instagram and stop your own profile from appearing in other users' ‘Suggestions for You’ section, you can easily do it.

And simply making your account private is not the way.

You can opt out of the ‘Suggestions for You’ section in other users’ feeds by accessing Instagram from a desktop or mobile web browser. You can't do it from the Instagram mobile app.

1. Go to Instagram.com in a desktop or mobile web browser and sign in to your account.

2. Go to your profile by clicking on the profile icon on the desktop web or in the bottom menu on the mobile web.

3. Select Settings.

4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see Similar Account Suggestions and uncheck that box. This tells Instagram to exclude your account when recommending similar accounts people might want to follow.

5. Select the blue Submit button to save your profile settings changes.
