The latest version of 4K Video Downloader Plus is here, bringing lots of improvements to make downloading videos smoother and more efficient. This update delivers a better experience all around—quicker channels and playlists download, better compatibility with media players, Bilibili HD download without login, and many more things that we'll cover below.

Oh, and one more thing. Previously, the app used a 1.x format (e.g., 1.10) in version numbering, but in this release, the version is 25.0.0. This update aligns 4K Download apps under a consistent versioning system for future releases.

Now, let’s see what’s new we have in the release:

Download channels or playlists directly from the context menu

Managing large collections of videos just got simpler. Now, you can download full channels or playlists directly from the context menu in the downloads list. If subscriptions are available, you can subscribe in just a few clicks, ensuring you never miss new uploads from your favourite creators.

Here’s how it works:

1. Download any video from YouTube by copying and pasting its link within 4K Video Downloader Plus.

2. When the video is downloaded, press the three dots next to it and find the Download @channelhandle option to either save the entire channel or subscribe to it. If the video was originally uploaded to a YouTube playlist, the option to download this entire playlist will also be available.

Faster Playlists and Channel Downloads

No more waiting for an entire playlist to be parsed before downloads begin. This update processes items as soon as they’re retrieved, significantly cutting down delays for large lists. If you’ve ever found yourself staring at the screen, waiting for a long playlist to load, you’ll appreciate the difference.

Larger Thumbnails for Better Navigation

Finding the right video is easier with larger thumbnails when parsing playlists and channels. If Smart Mode is off, a new expand button lets you enlarge thumbnails while still displaying more items:

Besides, hovering over a thumbnail now provides a bigger preview, making selection more intuitive. Let’s see how it works:

1. Make sure Smart Mode is off before downloading by toggling it off.

2. Find a YouTube channel or playlist you want to download and copy its URL.

3. Paste the URL in 4K Video Downloader Plus by clicking the Paste Link button. At this point, a manual download window will open where you can select the type of your download (audio or video), its format, OS, quality, and the output folder.

4. Hover your mouse over one of the thumbnails, and enjoy its larger preview!

5. Then just download all the videos from the playlist/channel or select only those you want to save at this point.

6. Tap Download.

Clearer Dubbed Audio Track Information

When downloading single videos with Smart Mode off, different audio track types, such as default, original, descriptive, or commentary, are now clearly displayed. For instance, in the example below, the original track is Deutsch (Deutschland), while the default one is English (US).

Issues with selecting dubbed audio languages have also been fixed, so you can easily choose the version you prefer.

Better Compatibility with Media Players

To improve playback, AV1 and VP9 video qualities are now hidden when corresponding H.264 versions are available, provided Smart Mode is off. This ensures smoother performance on media players that might not support AV1 or VP9 formats.

Reliable YouTube and YouTube Music Downloads

This update enhances link analysis for YouTube and YouTube Music, reducing “403: Forbidden” errors and improving download speed. The 256 kbit/s quality option is back, and error handling for private, age-restricted, and nonexistent channels has been improved.

HD Downloads from BiliBili Without Login

BiliBili videos can now be downloaded in HD without requiring an account login. The app also improves handling of redirected links from safelinks.protection.outlook.com and shortened URLs from services like tinyurl.com.

Smoother Installation & Uninstallation on Windows

The Windows installer is now more reliable. Issues with uninstalling apps installed via the online installer have been resolved, and removal from starting while the app is still running is prevented. If an installer isn’t compatible with your system, the error messages are now clearer.

Easy Access to App Logs

Need to troubleshoot or check your download history? A new “Open Logs Folder” option in the menu makes it simple to find and access app logs with one click.

Other Fixes and Improvements

• The "Numerate files…" setting now applies correctly to subscriptions.

• Accidental file numbering restarts have been fixed.

• Subscription preferences now import correctly.

• The app no longer hides behind the taskbar.

• Window size and position display correctly.

• The download folder selector displays correctly.

• Thumbnails no longer disappear from the downloads list.

• Various minor UI and localisation issues have been resolved.
