YouTube has recently rolled out automatic dubbing for videos, which means that over 100,000 creators can make their content available in multiple languages, including English, French, German, and Spanish, at the click of a button. What does it mean for you? YouTube now lets you watch your favorite creators in your native language, whether it’s a cooking tutorial from a French chef, a history lesson from a German professor, travel tips from a Spanish vlogger, or any other video.
And the best part? With 4K Video Downloader Plus, you can now download these auto-dubbed audio tracks along with the videos. We’ll show you how in a minute.
How YouTube Auto-Dubbing Works
The feature is designed to make content more accessible to a global audience. Here’s how it works:
-
Creators upload their videos as usual.
-
YouTube detects the original language and automatically generates dubbed versions in multiple languages. Say, if a video is originally made in English, it will be dubbed into French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. If the video is in any of those other languages, it will be dubbed into English.
-
You can choose your preferred language using the track selector, and YouTube will remember their choice for future videos.
-
Auto-dubbed videos are marked with a label, so users know when they’re listening to an AI-generated translation.
The feature is still developing, with Google DeepMind and Google Translate working to make dubs more natural and expressive in future updates.
